Putting duplicates to good use & trading

Why duplicates are worth it: record how many you own, show your spares and find trade partners for your wishlist on TCG-Completist.

Every collector ends up with duplicates, from boosters, bulk lots or the flea market. In TCG-Completist those duplicates aren't clutter, they're your trading currency. Here's how to get the most out of them.

1. Record the quantity

Open a card and use the −/+ counter in the detail window to set how many copies you own, separately for Normal and Foil. Important: this does not change your set completion. Whether you own one copy or five, the set counts as complete with a single copy. The quantity is purely extra information for duplicates and trading.

2. Duplicates at a glance

Cards you own more than once carry a small ×N badge in the grid. The “Duplicates only” button in the set view hides everything else so you instantly see what you have spare, ideal for sorting before a trade or sale.

3. Make your spares visible

If you share your profile in the settings, your duplicates appear for other collectors in a dedicated “Duplicates / for trade” section. Others can then see which cards you have to offer. Without sharing, everything stays private. The listing is deliberately opt-in.

4. Find trade partners for your wishlist

The real magic is in your ⭐ wishlist: if another (shared) collector owns one of your wanted cards more than once, you'll see a “N have this spare” hint. One click shows who it is (including finish and language) and “✉️ Message” lets you contact them directly to arrange a trade.

5. Settle it fairly and offline

TCG-Completist only brings supply and demand together. You arrange the actual trade directly with each other. As always, use safe shipping (tracked, well packed) and a fair value balance; the Cardmarket price shown for each card is a good guide.

That's how a shoebox full of duplicates turns into exactly the cards you're still missing, without having to buy them one by one.
