About TCG-Completist
A collecting tool made by a collector, free and without a subscription.
Who is behind it
I'm René and I run TCG-Completist on my own. I started Magic: The Gathering around 1995 and quickly noticed that I enjoy collecting more than playing. Since then I collect sets, preferably in German. Back in the day I actually opened boxes wearing gloves so no card would get a fingerprint. I'm not that strict anymore, but every card still ends up in a sleeve and a binder.
Why this site exists
If you want to complete sets, you mainly need an answer to one question: which cards am I still missing? Separated by language and by regular or foil, with a direct way to buy exactly those cards. The tools I knew were built for players and decks. So I built my own: every set as a grid, missing cards greyed out, one click to the matching Cardmarket offer. That became TCG-Completist, now covering Magic, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, One Piece, Star Wars: Unlimited, Riftbound, Flesh and Blood, Digimon, Gundam and Dragon Ball Super Fusion World, with a wishlist, price alerts, a trade board and a card scanner for phone and webcam.
On YouTube
On the TCG-Completist YouTube channel I show how I collect myself: opening boxes and doing the honest math, going through old boxes from the basement, filling gaps on Cardmarket. The lessons are also written up in the guides, for example in the Hobbit box test or in valuing old Magic cards.
Where the data comes from
Card lists, images and prices come from public data sources: Scryfall for Magic, TCGdex and the Pokémon TCG API for Pokémon, and YGOPRODeck for Yu-Gi-Oh!. Prices shown are Cardmarket trend prices, averages of recent sales. They are a guide, not a buy offer. How the numbers work is explained in Card prices explained.
How the site is funded
TCG-Completist is free. Server and domain costs are covered by ads on some content pages and by voluntary supporters, who use the site ad-free in return. There are no paid placements, and the Cardmarket links are not affiliate links: I earn nothing from where you buy your cards.
Not an official service
TCG-Completist is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast, The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Konami, Disney, Ravensburger or Cardmarket. All trademarks and card names belong to their respective owners.
