Build your first Dragon Ball Fusion World deck: step by step

New to Dragon Ball Super Fusion World? How to build a playable deck: leader, 50 cards, energy, combos, cost curve and common mistakes.

Fusion World is the current Dragon Ball card game, with tight rules and fast battles. Many people collect Dragon Ball Super Fusion World for the artwork but have never built a deck of their own. This guide takes you in 7 steps from “I have cards” to “I have a playable deck”. No prior knowledge needed.

Dragon Ball Super Fusion World in one minute

Step 1: Pick a Leader

The Leader sets your colour and has its own ability. Pick the Leader you own the most matching cards for.

Step 2: Only cards in your Leader's colour

You can't play cards in colours your Leader doesn't have. Each card number may be included at most 4 times.

Step 3: 50 cards

50 to 60 cards are allowed. Use exactly 50 so you draw your best cards more often.

Step 4: The skeleton

PartCountPurpose
Battle cards36 to 42attacking, blocking, combos
Extra cards6 to 12tricks and removal

These are guidelines for a first deck, not fixed rules.

Step 5: Combo values and cost curve

Many battle cards show a combo value on their left edge. It is your defence, so plan enough of them. Also keep enough cheap cards, as you only get 1 energy per turn.

Step 6: 4 copies beat lots of singles

Your most important cards belong in the deck 4 times, so you actually draw them. A deck of many different single cards plays differently every time and rarely well.

Step 7: Test and adjust

The shortcut: a ready-made deck as a template

Bandai releases starter decks that are playable right away. Their card lists are online. Paste such a list into TCG-Completist and see what is already in your collection.

How TCG-Completist helps

  1. Open 🃏 Decks in the account menu and click “New deck”. Choose Dragon Ball Super Fusion World as the game.
  2. Paste a list, for example with “4x” plus the card code, as deckbuilding sites export it. Card codes and English names are recognised.
  3. You see right away which cards you own, which are missing and roughly what the rest costs.
  4. If you want to play a card as alternate art, set the print with one click. Add missing cards to your wishlist with one click.

The deck builder is free. Guides for other games are under Deck building.

The 5 most common beginner mistakes

  1. Wrong colours. Only your Leader's colours.
  2. Too few combo cards. Without them you lose life quickly.
  3. Too many expensive cards. Only 1 energy per turn.
  4. Wasting energy. Charge cards you don't need right now.
  5. Only single copies. Better 4 copies of your key cards.

That's all your first deck needs. Build it, play it and improve it after every game.
